Thanks to the eminent professors working at those difficult times - 1939-1945 – who educated us and taught us to love the school, and thanks to the leadership of the Jewish Community - Lazar Filderman, Attorney-at-Law S. Al. Bacher and others -, generations of youth of the town could be rescued. Respect and honor are due to these wonderful people ! |

RABBI NAHUM DERBAREMDIGER was the headmaster of the elementary boys’ school of the Community. He has taught whole generations of Jewish children the alphabet and the Hebrew language. He spared no efforts to teach us the history of the Jews, the Jewish tradition and, owing to his exceptional skills, he succeeded in “instilling” us his love for the Jewish people and the Jewish traditions. He prepared many of us for the Bar-Mitzvah. His lessons he combined with attractive stories from the Haggada and the Mikra. All members of the Community admired Rabbi Derbaremdiger, a modern rabbi and an exceptional personality. Upon his immigration to the Holy Land he continued his teaching activity same as he did in his youth. |
